O ye of little faith. Did you think I would stop at debunking Frank Vidal, and a little body language analysis? Your objections have shifted to the content of the message, so we now turn to the next phase of this epic battle of me vs. everyone.
In this post, I will discuss the credibility of the terminology and scientific details in Dr. Salvatore Conti’s warning. (I will NOT address magnetic reversal and extinction; that is saved for a future post.)
* BOIS – a real NASA acronym – NASA COVERUP ALERT!
Dr. Sal fluently makes use of multiple acronyms, the most important of which is “BOIS”. Does he have the NASA jargon right?
Intellectual Oddities denizen Baldrick writes:
In short, translated Russian Documents indicating that NASA was looking at Bilateral Organized Interstellar Signals as early as 1969
Unfortunately I did NOT do as Baldrick advised and save them immediately. At the time of this writing, 8/16/2012 3:49 pm Hong Kong time, these pdfs are no longer available. I get a “403 Forbidden” error. Here is the text:
ForbiddenYou don’t have permission to access /archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/19710005278_1971005278.pdf on this server.
This is the first evidence of a NASA coverup we’ve seen, and it’s starting at the logical place from a government bureaucrat’s perspective – retroactively locking down all related documentation.
UPDATE: It was just my IP that was blocked, something to do with being in China I reckon.
* Steens Mountain – Real evidence of rapid polar shift
Dr. Sal cites Steen’s Mountain during the video:
This event will be like one that’s been proven from analysis of the lava basalts on Steen’s Mountain in Oregon. 15 million years ago, a reversal took place in which the rate of change was as fast as six degrees per day. That’s almost three times faster than the average drift of over two degrees per day expected for June through August 2016.
Is this junk science, or simple fact?
Someone writes, linking to here:
Here is evidence of a very rapid pole shift which was related to the staggering amounts of lava — several flows hundreds of feet thick — which inundated the Steens Mountain region between 14 and 17 million years ago. S. Conte makes reference to the Steens Mountains in his youtube announcement.
Occidental College geology professor Scott Bogue has recently found evidence of a brief episode of rapid geomagnetic field change that was thousands of times faster than usual.
Their research, funded by National Science Foundation grants, also brings more credence to a similar instance – the only other example discovered so far – found at Oregon’s Steens Mountain in 1995. The researchers for the earlier study analyzed lava flows 1.2 million years older than the rock at Sheep Creek Range and found evidence of an episode of a 6-degree per day change. That rate of directional change was so high that many in the earth science found it hard to accept.
A curiously well-researched hoax, no?
* Van Allen belts – fact or fantasy?
SonOfTheLawOfOne writes on Above Top Secret:
He makes quite an extensive mention of the removal of the Van Allen belts, with all of the correct references to names of professors involved in those studies, part of which (not all that he mentions in the video) is found on Wikipedia:
The belts are a hazard for artificial satellites and are moderately dangerous for human beings, but are difficult and expensive to shield against.
The Russian physicist V.V. Danilov proposed the use of a High Voltage Orbiting Long Tether as a potential means to drain the radiation belt of high energy particles. The proposal was developed further by Robert L. Forward and involves deploying highly electrically charged tethers from satellites in orbit. Charged particles within the radiation belt encountering these tethers would be deflected by their large electrostatic fields onto paths that intersect with the atmosphere, where they would be harmlessly dissipated.[25] Simulations have suggested that the inner belt could be drained to 1% of its natural electron flux within two months of HiVOLT operation.[26]
* HAARP – the loony touchstone, used for plain vanilla radio?
flexy123 writes on Above Top Secret:
To be honest, 90% of the “information” about HAARP (cough, COUGH!!!) especially on conspiracy boards is absolute BS, but one thing is actually true:
HAARP is used for radio communications and (see wikipedia) listening to some sort of extraterrestrial signals as well. He did NOT just use any of the circulating, rather abstruse theories about weather modification or whatever…but what he said about HAARP (i think) is scientific fact.
Note the pairing of HAARP with the Arecibo aerial telescope in Puerto Rico. Something an insider would know, but a loony might not. A picture of it:
Perhaps we can independently confirm the existence of these radio transmissions:
If Sal is telling the truth, somebody with astronomical/radio skills ought to be able to pick up the signal. NASA needs HAARP to send, but it ought to be pretty cheap to receive. We couldn’t understand the content, but it would function as verification, especially since the communication seems more unlikely than the pole reversal. We know pole reversals happen. Even if NASA decided to go silent, a return message is likely still on its way, and there is no indication that the senders will just go silent if NASA does. Come to think of it, someone may have already picked up the signal, but it would likely look like noise to anyone unaware. People are unlikely to notice a pattern of 331 days and would likely think it was random if they noticed it at all.
* Ursula Major – a telling error?
People have jumped all over Sal for saying “Ursula Major” instead of the constellation’s proper name (according to Wikipedia), “Ursa Major”.
A search of Google Books shows numerous references to the constellation as “Ursula Major.” This seems to be an alternate name, not an error.
Furthermore, he gets the name of a star within the constellation right:
“The signals all come from Ursula (sic) Major, from an area north of Delta Ursae Majoris, and south of the
?Halbedid?Field.”
Someone with a background in astronomy can help me with the “?Halbedid? Field” spelling – Google failed me there.
UPDATE: It’s the “Hubble Deep Field”. His accent gets thick and he mutters and screws up the “Hu”. Thanks to Colin Ingermanson.
In light of the fluent technical accuracy in the above sections, I think we can allow an Italian man a mildly questionable surplus “la”. He is a datanaut, after all, not an astronomer.
* Alien tech – plausible or ridiculous?
I find it somewhat ridiculous that we are even attempting to discuss the plausibility of the technological capabilities of an alien civilization supposed to be 1000s of years more advanced than our own.
In a world that has seen Aztecs meeting Conquistadors, and Cargo Cultists worshipping airplanes, and that between the same species, how can we be so bold as to deny or affirm the capabilities of the ALFies? They’ve mystified a roomful of NASA ninja geeks for years. I think that qualifies as a pretty large divide.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t discuss it; only that we ought not get too boisterously confident while doing so.
Objection #1: The ALFies can’t know the details of Earth’s magnetic reversal.
This is just a naked assertion. We know nothing about their technological capabilities or their observational resources.
Also, Sal stated there have been “visual contacts” with aliens. He believes it, which doesn’t make it so. Not like he was in the UFO department. Even if there were such contacts, it doesn’t mean they’re the same aliens. But it’s possible they have observers of some sort on Earth.
Objection #2: The magnetic reversal won’t drop the Van Allen belts on Earth.
We’ve never witnessed a magnetic reversal, so it’s pretty cocky to claim we can model the magnetic field’s behavior with that level of confidence (and do it better than the ALFies).
Part of the Van Allen belt is causing problems now by getting closer than usual to the Earth and interfering with satellites.
The belts could well have played a role in previous mass extinctions, as well. We have no way of knowing because the radioactive particles would decay quickly (in geological terms), leaving no record behind.
Objection #3: We couldn’t have established meaningful communications with the ALFies in 4 years.
Firstly, WE didn’t. It sounds like the ALFies did most of the heavy lifting. Which is impressive considering the brainpower we put into it.
Secondly, this is just a facile argument. The ALFies must be completely superior so they should successfully communicate 100% of what they want to say. Or, the ALFies are totally alien so we shouldn’t understand anything they say.
Why can’t it be, we understand some of what they say, and they successfully communicated what was most important? By what authority can anyone honestly claim that’s impossible? Partial comprehension is precisely the dynamic you can observe in most conversations where one party is smart and the other dumb. Seems plausible to me.
Objection #4: Why didn’t the ALFies just send videos or pictures so any idiot could figure out what they were saying?
I don’t know. Why don’t they just directly manifest in your brain and transport you to paradise? These guys might not have eyes at all. They’re ALIENS.
Objection #5: Why hasn’t anyone else heard aliens talking until now?
I made this one up, it’s a straw man. Basically Conti paints a picture of a universe that is quite possibly teeming with life. The problem is cryptography, or deciphering messages, even if they’re not deliberately encoded. Messages could be flying all around us but we can’t tell whether they’re natural or artificial, or figure out what they mean. That is, until someone decided to start answering our questions. Then we could start breaking the code.
But as long as the aliens ignored us, it was basically impossible to know.
That’s a very neat idea I haven’t heard anywhere else, in a very tired sci-fi genre.
Objection #6: If the ALFies know enough about Earth to predict the magnetic reversal, they should know enough about its people to communicate clearly with them.
Reality doesn’t apologize when it violates what passes for human common sense. A sci fi writer could devise any number of scenarios explaining the apparent discrepancy. It would be far more suspicious if everything made sense at such an early stage.
Of course, it may all be a fakeout by the ALFies, and they’re already here. Let’s hope not.
* Summary
CrazyCloud writes on Above Top Secret:
2) His science is very convincing and very fluent. That was a huge and technical script to reherse and remember for a hoax. I mean, that is a BIG effort to hoax.
3) He mentions Dr. Danilov and Dr. Hoyt as potential co-thinkers, they exist (though I admit, if I can find them so can he).
5) He had NO patience for conspiracy theoories about HAARP, 2012, Mayans etc.
flexy123 writes:
Whatever he said..its NOT lunatic talk, either *very well* researched hoax/disinfo etc. or genuine.
Also..please note he did NOT use chemtrails or any other conspiracy theory stereotypes – if he would have mentioned chemtrails or any of the HAARP fantasy stories i would not have watched this for the 30mins and i would ALSO not participate in this thread.
Next up, I’m going to do a deeper study of Sal’s body language and motivations. Then I’ll discuss the science of magnetic reversals and mass extinctions, and the possible motivation of both our government and the ALFies.
So if you think my case is still incomplete… no duh. It’s a series. Stay tuned.
